Jessica Angel was born in London in 1965 where she lives & works. She has exhibited in London at Burgh House and Jerwood Space. In 2003 she was commissioned by Jerwood Space to produce a series of images of contemporary dance installed on the outside of the building in early 2004.
Her own interest in and study of dance has lead her to specialize in dance photography. She works with all the dance genres from performance to social dance. She uses this understanding of the body in space to capture the essence of our everyday movement and gestures.
Jessica studied at University College London and then at University of California, Berkeley. She specialized in Film, before going on to work in the Television and Film industry. She turned to photography as a means to developing a more direct relationship with her subject matter.
