Building on Jessica's own experience as a dancer and her interest in how we move in space, she uses her SLR camera as a movie camera, capturing and tracking the fleeting movement through space and across the lens. She allows her images to uncover another reality Ð the feel of the movement. What does it feel like to dance? What does it feel like to move through space? How can the camera translate that feeling?
Angel's work comes out of the documentary tradition but, using a slow shutter speed, she allows the images to lose their focus, emphasising the sensation rather than the form.
The images have been printed using a variety of traditional techniques: lith printing ; or toning a gelatine print; sometimes scanning the image and creating a digital prints on art paper.
